Jang Il, former chairman of the People Power Party's Nowon district committee, attempted self-immolation in protest after being excluded from the party nomination on the 2nd and is currently in a standoff with the police.

On the same day, Jang doused himself with a liquid presumed to be gasoline in front of the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido, holding a lighter in his right hand while confronting the police.
The People Power Party announced a three-way primary in Nowon Gap between Kim Kwang-soo, former Seoul city council member; Kim Seon-gyu, president of the Korea Cybersecurity Association; and Hyeon Gyeong-byeong, former secretary to the Seoul mayor.
Kim Jun-ho, former researcher at Seoul National University’s National Fiscal Research Center, was given priority recommendation for Nowon Won.
Jang had applied for the Nowon Gap nomination but was not included in either the primary candidate list or the priority nomination list.
