Driving after crashing into a retaining wall in Pocheon, Gyeonggi
Firefighter discovers and pursues the vehicle while driving

A firefighter who spotted a vehicle driving erratically from side to side tracked the vehicle and eventually apprehended the driver. It turned out to be a drug offender.

At around 8 a.m. on the 28th of last month, Firefighter A, affiliated with the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters, witnessed a suspicious vehicle on a road in Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi Province. An Audi passenger car was swerving and had hit a retaining wall and guardrails but continued driving. Firefighter A thought the vehicle was being driven under the influence, so he turned on his high beams and honked his horn while pursuing the vehicle.

Soon after, the vehicle ahead stopped, and Firefighter A got out, turned off the foreign car’s engine, and checked the condition of the driver, a woman in her 20s named B. What caught the eye of Firefighter A, who is also a paramedic, were needle marks on various parts of B’s body, including her arms.

Suspecting she was a drug offender, Firefighter A immediately reported the incident to the police. Following the report, police officers who arrived conducted a rapid drug test, which showed that driver B tested positive for methamphetamine. The police are currently investigating B on charges of drug use and possible accomplices.

Recently, three undocumented immigrants who caused a traffic accident and fled while driving under the influence of methamphetamine in downtown Seoul were also sent to the prosecution. On the 26th of last month, the Gwanak Police Station in Seoul sent a Cambodian national in his 20s, identified as C, to detention on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act, Road Traffic Act, and Immigration Control Act.

C and two passengers are suspected of hitting a motorcycle while driving on a road in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, on the night of January 31, then abandoning the vehicle and fleeing. Police who responded to the report found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in C’s vehicle. It was confirmed that C was driving without a license at the time.

Also, last November, a woman in her 40s who caused a minor collision on a road in Seocho-gu, Seoul, bowed toward a patrol car and took luggage out of her trunk onto the road in a bizarre act. She punched the air and even danced on the road, and although the police conducted a breathalyzer test due to her staggering behavior, no alcohol was detected.

Subsequently, a request was made for a drug test, and a rapid drug test revealed a positive result. Three syringes, suspected to have been used for drug injection, were found inside the woman’s vehicle. Investigations revealed that the woman had a prior record related to drugs.
