At around 7:24 a.m. on the 1st, the nearshore longline fishing vessel A (33 tons) capsized 12 nautical miles southwest of Seogwipo, Jeju, resulting in 8 people being rescued and 2 missing.
According to the Seogwipo Coast Guard, the vessel A had 5 Korean crew members and 5 Vietnamese crew members on board, of whom 8 were rescued by a nearby fishing boat.
The rescued crew members include 3 Koreans and 5 Vietnamese, with one of them currently reported unconscious.
Upon receiving the report, the Coast Guard dispatched patrol vessels to the accident site to search for the 2 missing Korean crew members.
The Coast Guard stated that the current accident area is experiencing north winds blowing at 18 to 20 meters per second and waves rising 3.5 to 4 meters high, making the search operation difficult.
