Foreigner Turns into a 'Lion'
On the 29th, the KOSPI and KOSDAQ closed lower. In the morning, both foreigners and institutions sold simultaneously, but in the afternoon, foreigners turned to a 'buying' trend. Samsung Electronics, the largest by market capitalization, fell more than 1% but managed to rebound in the late session.
The KOSPI closed at 2,642.36, down 0.37% (9.93 points) from the previous day. On this day, the KOSPI opened at 2,643.48, down 0.33% (8.81 points) from the previous close.
Institutions alone sold a net 511.8 billion KRW, pulling the index down. Individuals and foreigners bought net amounts of 315.1 billion KRW and 179 billion KRW, respectively. In the futures market, individuals and institutions bought 136 billion KRW and 374.6 billion KRW, respectively, while foreigners sold 547.6 billion KRW.
Among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization, Samsung Electronics showed high volatility. It fell more than 1% in the early session but closed up 0.27% at 73,400 KRW. Hyundai Motor and Kia also closed up 1.01% and 5.78%, respectively. SK Hynix -1.14%, Samsung Biologics -3.37%, Celltrion -5.42%, POSCO Holdings -1.37%, LG Chem -2.48%, and NAVER -4.41% closed lower.
The KOSDAQ closed at 862.96, down 0.05% (0.43 points) from the previous day. It opened at 862.55, down 0.10% (0.84 points) from the previous close. Institutions alone sold a net 133.8 billion KRW, while individuals and foreigners bought net amounts of 78.3 billion KRW and 68.5 billion KRW, respectively.
Among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization, the trend was generally weak. Shinseong Delta Tech -6.39%, Celltrion Pharm -4.73%, and Enchem -3.94% showed notable declines. EcoPro BM +4.10%, EcoPro +5.10%, and HLB +5.43% closed higher.
