Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk Province (Governor O Do-chang) held the 2024 School Meal Deliberation Committee meeting on the 28th at the small conference room of the county office.
The Yeongyang-gun School Meal Committee consists of representatives from local schools and parents, heads of related departments from the county and the Office of Education, agricultural product producer groups, and school meal officials.
The committee was convened to supply high-quality ingredients such as eco-friendly agricultural and livestock products to kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school students in the area, aiming to create a safe and healthy food culture and support the sound physical and mental development of growing youth.
The matters deliberated today included the approval of the original plan to support a total of approximately 820 million KRW for three projects: free meals and eco-friendly agricultural product school meals for 968 children and students across 6 kindergartens and 13 elementary, middle, and high schools as of this year.
Additionally, various opinions were actively discussed, including plans for supplying local agricultural products to school meals, the current status of school care projects, expansion plans for school dinner meals, providing nutritious menus for growing children and adolescents, and linkage plans to ensure stable income for local farmers.
Chairman Park Jun-ro (Deputy Governor of Yeongyang-gun) stated, “As living standards improve, the quantitative and qualitative demand for safe and healthy food has increased. Accordingly, we plan to establish comprehensive and diverse food policies related to healthy food for the children and youth, who are the future generation of Yeongyang-gun.”
