Gangdong-gu Ranks 8th Among 69 Institutions in 243 Local Governments Surveyed by Ministry of the Interior and Safety... Lee Soo-hee, Gangdong-gu Mayor, "Selected as an 'Excellent' Institution for 2 Consecutive Years Since the 8th Elected Term... Will Lead Innovative Administration Again This Year"
Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Suhee) announced on the 29th that it received the highest (excellent) rating in the ‘2023 Local Government Innovation Evaluation’ conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The ‘Local Government Innovation Evaluation’ is a competition in which the Ministry of the Interior and Safety comprehensively evaluates the efforts and achievements of regional innovation across all 243 local governments (17 metropolitan and 226 basic local governments).
The evaluation covers five areas: ▲ Innovation Capability ▲ Proactive Government with Communication and Cooperation ▲ Government Services Comfortable for All ▲ Data-driven Local Administration Innovation ▲ Public Perception Evaluation. These are assessed by the ‘Ministry of the Interior and Safety Local Government Innovation Evaluation Team’ composed of private experts and the ‘Public Evaluation Team’.
The evaluation results are classified into three grades?excellent, average, and insufficient?by summing the innovation performance scores for each indicator. Gangdong-gu was selected as excellent, the highest grade (8th among 69 autonomous districts).
In particular, it received excellent ratings in the fields of ‘Institutional Autonomous Innovation Promotion Performance,’ ‘Resident Communication Policy Achievement,’ ‘Activation of Public-Private Cooperation,’ ‘Digital-based Service Innovation,’ and ‘Work Method Innovation and Organizational Culture Improvement.’
Additionally, it received extra points in the dissemination of excellent innovation cases and was highly rated in most indicators.
Mayor Lee Suhee of Gangdong-gu said, “I am grateful that 460,000 residents and over 1,600 employees have achieved such a good result together,” and added, “In 2024, we will do our best to ensure that residents feel vigorous changes through continuous innovative administration and take pride in living in Gangdong.”
