There are rumors spreading that Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge (42), is in very serious health condition. The rumors seem to be spreading as her husband, Prince William, suddenly canceled official engagements.

The American news weekly Newsweek reported that when Prince William announced his absence from the memorial service for the former King of Greece held at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle on the morning of the 27th (local time) less than an hour before the event, rumors surrounding the Duchess's health, which had been circulating on social media, intensified.

Prince William had stopped public activities for three weeks after his wife's surgery last month, citing the reason of taking care of their three children, but resumed official duties after King Charles III, his father, was diagnosed with cancer. On this day, the royal family announced the cancellation of the prince's schedule, only explaining it as a personal matter. However, seemingly aware of public attention regarding the Duchess's health, they stated, "His wife is doing well."

The Duchess of Cambridge underwent abdominal surgery on the 16th of last month. Although the specific condition was not disclosed, the royal family announced the day after the surgery that "the Duchess's surgery was successful and she will be hospitalized for 10 to 14 days," adding, "According to current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to official duties until after Easter (late March)."

However, rumors began to run rampant as the Duchess, who had attended the Christmas royal family service and carried out all official activities until just before the surgery, did not appear leaving the hospital nor were any personal photos released.

On the 28th of last month, a day before the Duchess was discharged, Spanish TV news reported that "the Duchess of Cambridge experienced a major crisis after surgery." The host of Fiesta claimed, "The Duchess was in a serious crisis after surgery, and the medical staff had to do their utmost," adding, "Although the surgery was successful, serious complications occurred, and the medical staff put the Duchess under general anesthesia and even intubated her." The royal family refuted these reports, calling the Spanish broadcast's claims "absurd."

However, concerns and rumors have not ceased as the Duchess has not appeared since and Prince William canceled official engagements. One user on X (formerly Twitter) posted, "Is it true that Kate Middleton, who posed like a supermodel outside the hospital just hours after giving birth, will suddenly take months to appear? And suddenly the British media respects privacy like magic?" adding, "It feels ominous." The post quickly spread, garnering 6.3 million views and 57,000 likes.

Newsweek stated, "The absence of information, especially visual images, has historically been a pattern where conspiracy theories thrive," adding, "The way to eliminate this is to release photos, but it seems the royal family has no such plans yet."
