Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, was selected as an excellent institution in the '2023 Local Government Innovation Evaluation' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety through continuous innovation efforts.
The innovation evaluation was conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety targeting 243 metropolitan and basic local governments nationwide. Using local government innovation evaluation teams, it assessed 10 detailed evaluation indicators across three categories: innovation capacity, innovation performance, and public perception, and classified the results into three grades: excellent, average, and poor.
In this evaluation, Goryeong-gun achieved results in areas such as △innovation leadership of the head of the institution △resident communication △activation of public-private cooperation △innovation in work methods and organizational culture improvement △public perception.
Additionally, regular communication concerts with residents, spreading innovation through regular communication with employees, establishment of a smart distress reporting system, operation of an agricultural workforce bank, and operation of a job and youth startup support center through industry-academic cooperation between Goryeong-gun and Gyeongbuk Science University received high evaluations.
Furthermore, efforts to improve work methods through discovery and rewarding of best practices, organizational innovation efforts through organizational culture diagnosis, MZ generation communication concerts, and innovation education for all employees were highly praised for their contributions to work method innovation and organizational culture improvement.
Lee Nam-cheol, the head of Goryeong-gun, said, "This is the result of communication with residents and cooperation among all employees for administrative innovation," adding, "We will strive to ensure that both public officials and residents can feel the effects through continuous capacity building."
