City Bus Fare Applied, Significantly Increasing Convenience and Ridership Among Local Residents
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) announced that converting the 9403 express bus to the 422 trunk bus has significantly increased the number of bus passengers.
According to a survey on the conversion of the 422 trunk bus route conducted to promote public transportation use and reduce transportation costs in Gwangjin-gu, the average daily number of bus passengers across the entire route surged by 47.1%, from 1,649 to 2,426.
※ Before adjustment (Feb 1) boarding average: 1,649 passengers; After adjustment (Feb 5?15, weekdays average) boarding average: 2,426 passengers
In particular, the number of Gwangjin-gu passengers traveling between Jayang-dong, north end of Jamsil Bridge, and Junggok-dong more than doubled, increasing from 263 to 567. Additionally, demand also rose in Songpa-gu (66%) and Seongnam-si (22%), which are along the route.
The 422 bus service, which started operating on the revised route from the 5th of this month, has received great response from passengers. This increase in ridership is attributed to the route conversion reducing transportation costs and enhancing convenience for local residents.
Bus fares have been cut to half of the previous seat bus fares, with transportation card rates set at 1,500 KRW for adults, 900 KRW for youth, and 550 KRW for children. Furthermore, the route was adjusted to stop at Migeum Station on the Shinbundang Line and Seongnam Station (GTX-A), improving transfer convenience.
The district has achieved the successful conversion to the 422 trunk bus route through continuous consultations with Seoul City to alleviate citizens’ burdens following last year’s bus fare increase.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “I am proud that our proactive administration has reduced the transportation costs for residents,” and added, “We will take the lead in improving the transportation service system to enhance public transportation convenience.”
