Over 1 million cumulative viewers... "Thank you for protecting a film that contains the truth"
The meeting between singer Naul, who posted the poster of the documentary film 'The Founding War' highlighting the life and achievements of former President Syngman Rhee on his social media service (SNS), and director Kim Deok-young of 'The Founding War' was arranged.

On the 28th, Director Kim posted several photos on his SNS with the title "I met singer Naul." Recently, Kim directed the film 'The Founding War,' which deals with the sacrifices and struggles of former President Syngman Rhee and the first generation of the founding era. Naul sparked controversy by uploading photos of the 'The Founding War' poster and an old Bible on his SNS.
Naul, who posted the 'The Founding War' poster, wrote at the time, "Christ has set us free to be free; therefore stand firm and do not be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1) King James Version." Former President Syngman Rhee embraced the Christian faith while attending Paichai Hakdang, which he entered at the age of twenty. The Christian network he built from his time at Paichai Hakdang is known to have been a great asset when conducting diplomacy with the United States later on. Naul is also known as a devout Christian. Therefore, it appears that Naul posted about 'The Founding War' on his SNS while referencing a Christian scripture.
At that time, Naul received negative criticism from netizens such as "Disappointed as a fan," "Is it okay for a public figure to show political colors like this?" "If you respect Syngman Rhee, respect him alone," "Maybe you need to study more about Syngman Rhee," and "I didn't see him that way, but now I feel alienated." Eventually, Naul changed his SNS settings to disable comments on the same day.
The film 'The Founding War,' which was released on the 1st, surpassed 1 million cumulative viewers as of the 27th day after its release. This is the first documentary film to exceed 1 million viewers in seven years since 'I Am Roh Moo-hyun' in 2017. Regarding surpassing 1 million viewers, Director Kim said, "I sincerely thank everyone who worked hard," and added, "I dedicate the honor to all who have protected this film that contains the truth about President Syngman Rhee. I will also do my best until the end."
