Investigation Hampered Due to Unclear Timing of the Crime and Other Factors
At a vineyard on the outskirts of Daejeon, 100 grapevines were cut down, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
On the 28th, the Daejeon Yuseong Police Station announced that they are tracking the thief who cut down a total of 100 grapevines after receiving reports from two farm owners. On the 14th, Mr. A, the owner of a vineyard located on the outskirts of Banseok-dong, Yuseong-gu, reported to the police, "Someone stole grapevines." Mr. A had visited the field ten days prior to the report and discovered that 50 grapevines had been cut down, leaving only the stumps. After much consideration, he decided to report the incident to the police.
Earlier, on the 21st of last month, a similar incident occurred at a vineyard in Ansan-dong, Yuseong-gu. In this vineyard as well, 50 grapevines were left with only their stumps remaining. The police suspect that the theft took place during the off-season when the farm owners visited their fields less frequently. However, since the exact time of the crime is unclear, they are having difficulty identifying the culprit. The area where the incidents occurred is remote and lacks closed-circuit television (CCTV) coverage, but the police have pledged to do their best to investigate and prevent further damage.
