Cooperation in Developing Aviation Industry Tourism Tour Programs
Gyeongnam Sacheon City, the aviation capital of Korea, and Korea Aerospace Industries, a key defense company producing domestic aircraft, are joining hands to revitalize the local aviation industry tourism.
On the 28th, Mayor Park Dongsik and Kang Guyeong, CEO of Korea Aerospace Industries, announced that they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for an aviation industry tourism tour, the core content of the "Planned Contest-type Regional Tourism Development Project," at the open mayor’s office in the city hall.
This agreement was promoted as part of cooperation to revitalize the tourism industry in Sacheon City, the aerospace hub city, recognizing the importance of national security following the passage of the Space Aviation Agency Special Act and the export success of the F-50 to Poland.
The main point of the agreement is to jointly develop and operate the nation’s only industrial tourism tour program that integrates the aviation industry and tourism industry into one.
Both organizations agreed to work together to improve the viewing environment by ▲developing and operating the industrial tourism tour program ▲creating viewing routes and convenience facilities for the industrial tourism tour ▲allowing visitor access and opening industrial sites ▲providing actual aircraft for photo zones installation.
The industrial tourism tour program offers sightseeing and experiential activities linked with the "Sacheon Love City Tour," including visits to the Aerospace Museum & Aerospace Science Hall, the Aviation Center (observation deck) within Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), and aircraft production sites (fixed-wing and rotary-wing buildings).
A city official said, “This industrial tourism tour program will become a successful industrial tourism model through public-private collaboration,” adding, “We will do our best to provide administrative support as it is a great opportunity to further highlight the image of Sacheon as an aerospace city.”
