Ulsan City to Create Color and Landscape Design Village Spaces

Two Sites Selected for 1 Billion KRW Each in Support Over Two Years

A project to change the color and landscape of villages in Ulsan is being promoted.

Ulsan City announced on the 28th that it will promote the ‘2024 Color Village Theme Park Pilot Project Contest’.

This contest project was prepared to provide cultural content suitable for regional characteristics and to create artistic village spaces using color and landscape design.

The main contest contents include ▲projects providing attractions using Ulsan’s urban colors tailored to regional characteristics ▲creative theme park creation projects harmonizing Ulsan’s industrial culture and colors ▲resident-led projects with high environmental improvement willingness ▲projects with significant ripple effects linked to similar types of projects such as vulnerable area renovation projects ▲and projects for maintenance and improvement of village street environments, natural landscape, and living environment improvements.

Ulsan City will accept project proposals from each district for up to two locations from April 22 to 30, and will select two locations by May through an evaluation by a committee of experts on project appropriateness, feasibility, and expected effects.

The project budget is a total of 2 billion KRW, with 1 billion KRW allocated per project, and Ulsan City will support up to 1 billion KRW, which is 50% of the project cost (500 million KRW per project for two locations).

The selected districts will secure the budget in June and carry out the project over two years from July until next year.

After project completion, Ulsan City plans to identify best practices and issues through a post-evaluation and review the possibility of expanding the project.

An official from Ulsan City said, “This is a policy project to make Ulsan’s urban landscape more beautiful,” and added, “We hope that the districts will show great interest and actively participate in this pilot project.”
