As doctors entered collective action in opposition to the government's plan to increase the quota for medical school admissions, the health and medical disaster crisis alert was raised to the 'serious' level on the 23rd.
Fortunately, all medical institutions in Goseong County are currently operating normally.
On the 26th, Governor Lee visited local medical institutions to encourage the medical staff and express his gratitude. He also wished for the speedy recovery of patients visiting the hospitals and promised to strive to minimize any gaps in medical services.
Governor Lee said, “I sincerely thank the medical staff who are protecting the medical sites and working hard to treat patients,” adding, “I ask that you always prioritize patients in any situation and stay by their side so that residents can trust and rely on you when they are ill.”
He continued, “We will do our best to protect the safety and health of residents by operating the emergency medical response situation room.”
Meanwhile, Goseong County is preparing countermeasures to minimize inconvenience to residents, such as operating the public health center's emergency medical response situation room even on weekends in response to the recent medical community strike.
