"Half of Employees Earn 300 Million Won, Reminiscent of Facebook 10 Years Ago"…NVIDIA Becomes a Dream Workplace

College Internship Applicants Increase Sevenfold
Attracted by Corporate Safety and Unique Position
High Stock Price and Salary Also Factors "Feels Like Watching Facebook in 2014"

Leading AI semiconductor company Nvidia is attracting top technical talent. This is attributed to Nvidia's prominent position in the semiconductor industry, as well as its high stock price and salaries.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 26th (local time) that Nvidia's unique position and stability as a supplier of essential chips for powering vast AI systems are drawing the attention of tech talent worldwide. It also noted that Nvidia employees take great pride in calling themselves "Nvidians," and the number of people wanting to become part of Nvidia is increasing.

WSJ stated that unlike the declining job postings from big tech companies on the recruitment platform Indeed, Nvidia's postings are rapidly increasing. According to the career platform Handshake, university students now consider Nvidia a dream workplace, with internship applications in January this year rising sevenfold compared to last year.

For graduates of Carnegie Mellon University, renowned for its computer science program, 40 were hired by Nvidia last year, more than triple the 12 hired in 2019. Students from the University of Washington's Business School also flocked to a company visit organized by the school last year, taking a one-night, two-day tour of Nvidia. Diana Marculescu, a professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Texas, said, "As Nvidia dominates the AI field, it has emerged as students' top choice."

Nvidia's high salaries and stock price also captivate talent. WSJ analyzed that half of Nvidia employees earned more than $228,000 (approximately 300 million KRW) in salary last year, and with the stock price nearing $800, these factors discourage employees from moving to competitors.

Tom Case, who runs the recruiting firm Atticus Gross Partners, described Nvidia as "like Facebook in 2014." He referred to the period after Facebook's IPO in May 2012, when its soaring stock price and high salaries attracted talent in a similar way.

Meanwhile, Nvidia currently has about 1,800 job postings, including fields such as AI storage, deep learning, and autonomous vehicle behavior planning. Many of these positions require a PhD or proficiency in multiple programming languages, with base salaries reported to range from $144,000 to $414,000.
