Dongjak-gu, Nationwide Expansion of Integrated Job Support Model... 'Employment Mecca'

Dongjak Employment Support Center Spreads Best Practices Through One-Stop Job Solutions

Dongjak-gu, Nationwide Expansion of Integrated Job Support Model... 'Employment Mecca'

Dongjak-gu is emerging as a mecca for employment as its integrated job support model development has achieved high performance and strong resident approval, spreading as an excellent case nationwide.

On the 27th, Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced that on the 22nd, for benchmarking purposes to establish an integrated job center, officials visited the Dongjak Employment Support Center (140 Noryangjin-ro, 2nd floor) in Iksan-si, Jeonbuk, and shared know-how.

The Dongjak Employment Support Center, which opened in May last year, consolidated previously dispersed services including the Job Plus Center, Senior Job Center, Noryangjin Youth Job Center, and Dongjak 50+ Center, providing customized job services for all generations from youth to seniors in one place.

On that day, the Dongjak Employment Support Center shared all procedures, organizational structure, and detailed operational plans for integrating job centers, and Iksan-si, Jeonbuk, toured the facility, agreeing on the provision of integrated job services.

First, by supporting one-stop employment services, the center achieved high satisfaction among residents for its convenience. The integrated consultation desk enhanced job accessibility, resulting in 1,614 successful employments last year.

This accounts for 16.5% of all employed persons in Dongjak-gu, marking significant achievements even during the employment market downturn.

Since its opening, the center has strengthened cooperation through weekly Wednesday meetings among facilities and developed various job models such as training middle-aged and senior online professional sellers, enhancing synergy between projects.

As a result, it won the Grand Prize and Special Award in the excellent project and public announcement categories respectively at the ‘2023 National Local Government Job Awards.’

□ Additionally, by adjusting and integrating spaces and overlapping tasks among facilities, the center improved resident convenience and operational efficiency, saving a budget of 118 million KRW.

This year, the center plans to expand its functions by implementing various projects such as employment-linked and expansion-type training to support resident employment.

Last month, the district launched the ‘Small and Medium Enterprise Employment Support Project’ for the first time, providing hiring incentives of up to 5.1 million KRW and expanding private sector employment capacity.

From mid-March, the district will promote ‘job training’ for residents wishing to participate in district-hired jobs to strengthen their capabilities. In particular, it plans to discover specialized jobs linked to local issues, such as a real estate development expert course, creating signature job projects unique to Dongjak-gu.

Along with this, the annual ‘Job Fair’ has been increased to four times a year, quarterly, to respond flexibly to diverse recruitment demands. Approximately 440 people visited the part-time job fair held on the 20th, with 163 participating in on-site interviews, showing high enthusiasm.

Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, “We are pleased to be recognized as a model case by residents and other autonomous districts as we have worked hard for the employment welfare of residents. Going forward, since jobs are the best welfare, we will continue to create various programs to help residents settle into employment amid the frozen job market.”
