Jungnang-gu Happy Farm Garden and Bonghwasan Nature Experience Park Pear Tree Distribution

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is leasing garden plots and pear trees at Jungnang Happy Farm (Farms 1 to 5) as well as pear trees at Bonghwasan Nature Experience Park to local residents.

This initiative aims to provide general residents with wholesome leisure activities and especially to allow children to learn and engage in activities in nature, thereby naturally fostering and developing their emotional well-being.

First, the leasing of garden plots and pear trees at Jungnang Happy Farm is open to general residents. Anyone interested in urban agriculture and residing in Jungnang-gu as of March 1 can apply. The total leasing scale is 444 plots, consisting of 279 garden plots and 165 pear tree plots.

Only one plot per household can be applied for, and if multiple applications are submitted from the same household, they will be excluded from the lottery. The leasing fee is 30,000 KRW per year for garden plots and 100,000 KRW per year for pear trees.

Applications can be submitted from March 4 to 8 via the Jungnang-gu Office website’s citizen participation bulletin board.

The final lessees will be selected through a computerized lottery and announced on March 15. For detailed information regarding the leasing at Jungnang Happy Farm, inquiries can be made to the Urban Agriculture Division of Jungnang-gu Office.

The leasing of pear trees at Bonghwasan Nature Experience Park is targeted at local kindergartens and daycare centers. There are a total of 225 pear trees, with one tree allocated per institution. Under the guidance of professional instructors, children will water and care for the assigned trees themselves, learning about the growth process of pear trees through these activities.

Applications are accepted from March 4 to 18, and inquiries can be directed to the Parks and Greenery Division. On March 22, the trees will be assigned to each institution, and a nameplate attachment event will also be held.

Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi stated, “I hope many residents, regardless of age or gender, will personally cultivate garden plots and pear trees, enjoy the joy of harvest, and grow closer to nature,” adding, “We will continue to discover various experiential programs to further activate urban agriculture.”

The leasing at Jungnang Happy Farm recorded a high level of interest and participation from residents last year, with a competition rate of about 10 to 1. To meet this demand, since 2019, the district has developed up to five Jungnang Happy Farms, established the Jungnang Happy Urban Agriculture Center as a hub for local urban agriculture, and is actively promoting urban agriculture by operating various programs.
