Guro-gu 'Anyangcheon Sarang Family Health Walk' Renamed to 'Guro Carbon Zero (ZERO) Walk'

Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) announced on the 26th that the event formerly known as the ‘Anyangcheon Love Family Health Walk,’ which has been held for 21 years, will be renamed the ‘Guro Carbon Zero (ZERO) Walk’ and newly promoted.

The ‘Anyangcheon Love Family Health Walk’ began in 2003 with the purpose of keeping Anyangcheon, the region’s representative stream, clean and promoting the health of residents. In 2021, an online system was introduced where participants could verify visits to designated points via smartphone. Although the event was temporarily suspended due to COVID-19, the cumulative number of participants over the past five years has reached approximately 70,000.

Starting this year, the district decided to include ‘Carbon Zero’ in the event name to clarify its goals and direction.

This year, four offline events are scheduled, twice in the first half and twice in the second half of the year, in May, June, September, and November.

The 4 km course starts at 7:30 a.m. on the second Saturday from Gocheok-dong Soccer Stadium, passing Ogumgyo Bridge, Sindorim Park Golf Course, and the Anyangcheon walking trail, returning to the starting point, taking about 40 minutes.

The dedicated mobile app for online participation has been completely revamped and renamed ‘On Guro.’

Notably, the online participation sections have expanded from the original single Anyangcheon location to four locations in total: the Anyangcheon embankment path, Dorimcheon Stream, and Maebongsan Mountain. Completion is recognized when participants verify visits to a certain number of designated points in each section.

The new app will be available from March 1, and a prize draw for 30 participants will be held every odd month throughout the year.

A Guro-gu official said, “We have improved the event to be easier and more convenient so that more residents can participate,” and added, “We ask for continuous interest and participation in the ‘Guro Carbon Zero Walk,’ where you can take care of your health and practice a carbon-neutral lifestyle.”
