The 1st Dongdaemun-gu Smart City Living Lab Held

Dongdaemun-gu Mayor Ilhyung Lee: "Establishing Resident-Centered Smart Policies Through Community Discussions and Expert Consultations"

Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) held the "1st Dongdaemun-gu Smart City Living Lab" to collect residents' opinions for establishing life-oriented smart policies.

The "Dongdaemun-gu Smart City Living Lab" (hereinafter referred to as the Living Lab) aims to be a citizen-participatory policy-making platform where residents identify local community issues themselves and propose solutions using technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Previously, considering gender, region, and age, the district recruited 30 residents to participate. On the 24th, the first Living Lab was held, where the selected residents received appointment certificates, followed by discussions on the concept of the Living Lab, identification of local issues in Dongdaemun-gu, and proposals for solutions.

The Living Lab will be held three times in total, each session lasting four hours until the end of March. The resident participants will play a role in deriving various technological application plans to solve local issues through discussions.

Subsequently, the district plans to apply the technologies deemed feasible from the proposals made in the Living Lab after discussions with experts and implementing agencies.

Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, "It is necessary for everyone to show great interest and active participation in identifying local issues and deriving smart solutions and applicable technologies," adding, "Let's create a smart future city Dongdaemun-gu together."

Meanwhile, since November last year, the district has been conducting the "Smart City Basic Plan Master Plan Project" to establish a smart city creation plan suited to local conditions.
