"Holograms Will Meet My Demands"
A Dutch artist has attracted attention by announcing plans to marry a hologram partner this summer.
On the 26th, Alicia Pramis, a Spanish-Dutch female artist, released a press statement announcing her marriage to her hologram partner, 'AILex.' AILex is presumed to be a compound of the commonly used male name 'Alex' and 'Artificial Intelligence (AI).' The wedding ceremony is scheduled to take place on the terrace of the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
The American economic media outlet Business Insider reported that the wedding will feature a "unique ritual for the union of humans and avatars," and guests will be served "molecular cuisine that both humans and humanoid beings can enjoy."
The bride, Pramis, is designing her own dress and outfits for the guests. She said this wedding symbolizes a "new generation of love" where humans can emotionally connect with holograms, avatars, and robots.
She stated, "An AI companion can be a beneficial choice for anyone who needs a partner," adding, "This hologram will fulfill all my needs." She further added, "I will be the first woman to marry a hologram." It is known that AILex has learned the profile information of all her previous partners.
Previously, Akihiko Kondo, a man living in Japan (then 35 years old), also made headlines in November 2018 by holding a wedding with the hologram-based female idol character 'Hatsune Miku.' The cost of his wedding exceeded 20 million won. About 40 guests attended the ceremony, and the groom, Akihiko, dressed in a white tuxedo, entered the wedding venue holding a doll modeled after the hologram character.
Akihiko said, "I held the wedding to prove my love (for my wife)," and added, "I also wanted to let the world know that such a marriage exists." He further stated, "I hope it will be seen as a marriage between a human and a non-human. If so, many possibilities will open up."
