Sapeon will support Docomo Innovations in discovering new innovative AI service business models that help reduce costs, improve internal operational efficiency, and support product development. The two companies recently signed a contract to jointly conduct a proof of concept (PoC) aimed at utilizing Sapeon semiconductors for Docomo Innovations' large language models (LLM), image and video processing, and computer vision AI application development.

As part of this collaboration, Docomo Innovations has begun verifying its own customized models and LLM based on Sapeon's recently launched AI semiconductor X330. Docomo Innovations decided to collaborate after highly evaluating the performance of Sapeon's X220. The Sapeon X330 is a data center AI semiconductor that offers more than four times the performance and twice the power efficiency compared to the existing X220.

Docomo Innovations' AI services are utilized in various fields such as healthcare, finance, insurance, and call centers for voice-to-text conversion, conversational text conversion, and automated responses.

Sapeon plans to target AI service model development companies and the data center market through the enhanced performance of the X330. Currently, Sapeon is conducting prototype testing and reliability verification of the X330 with major clients and intends to mass-produce according to demand.

Additionally, Sapeon is preparing to launch an edge AI semiconductor following the completion of autonomous driving semiconductor intellectual property (IP) development and acquisition of the functional safety standard (ISO26262). The company plans to provide customized solutions using Sapeon semiconductors across various industries beyond data centers.

Ryu Su-jeong, CEO of Sapeon, stated, "Since announcing Korea's first data center AI semiconductor X220 in 2020, we released the X330 at the end of last year, which maximizes the advantages of the existing product. Using this, we are expanding commercial AI services into various fields."

Yoshikazu Akinaga, CEO of Docomo Innovations, said, "Our company has thoroughly evaluated and verified the excellence of Sapeon's technology. We are very excited to collaborate to pioneer a new generation in the AI field."
