Il Tenore is a work inspired by the life of 'Lee In-seon,' a pioneer of Korean opera. It tells the story of young people chasing their dreams in a tragic and dark era. Il Tenore means tenor in Italian.

The story centers on Yoon I-seon, who dreams of becoming Joseon's first opera tenor, and independence activists Seo Jin-yeon and Lee Su-han, who prepare the opera performance together. Set in 1930s Gyeongseong during the Japanese colonial period, it depicts the youth's independence movement but focuses more on the 'dreams' of the youth of that time rather than immersing in the era's pain.

The cast from the Seoul Arts Center premiere will reprise their roles in the extended run at Blue Square.

The role of Yoon I-seon, Joseon's first opera tenor, is played by Hong Kwang-ho, Park Eun-tae, and Seo Kyung-soo. Kim Ji-hyun, Park Ji-yeon, and Hong Ji-hee passionately portray Seo Jin-yeon, the leader of the 'Literary Society' and director of the independence movement opera performance. Jeon Jae-hong and Shin Sung-min play Lee Su-han, an architecture student devoted to the independence movement and responsible for the opera's stage design.

Additionally, Choi Ho-jung plays the producer Choi Cheol, and foreign actors Adriana Tomeu and Brooke Prince appear as Mrs. Becker, an American missionary and Yoon I-seon's opera teacher.

Tickets for the first phase of Il Tenore's performances at Blue Square Shinhan Card Hall, opening next month, will be available for reservation from 2 PM today (26th) on Interpark Ticket and Ticketlink.
