By March 8, a total of 30 SMEs applied for support in overseas branch establishment, exhibitions and fairs, and product promotion and marketing... Supporting SMEs with excellent technology and high growth potential, Seongdong promotes itself as a business-friendly city
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) is recruiting participating companies for the 'Overseas Branch Project and Domestic and International Market Development Support Project' from February 26 to March 8 to strengthen the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the region.
The Overseas Branch Project is a program in which the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and others act as overseas business hubs to analyze overseas markets, conduct demand surveys, promote, and market on behalf of companies.
This project aims to assist local SMEs that face difficulties in market development despite having excellent products and technology development. It is divided into three categories: companies participating in the Overseas Branch Project, companies participating in domestic and international exhibitions and fairs, and companies participating in product promotion and marketing support. The support scale is about 10 companies per category, totaling 30 companies.
Companies participating in the Overseas Branch Project will receive partial support for project expenses, companies participating in domestic and international exhibitions and fairs will receive partial support for participation fees, and companies selected for product promotion and marketing support will receive support for costs such as website and promotional material production.
All three categories provide support up to 2 million KRW per company; however, the Overseas Branch Project offers differential support depending on the application stage, and the market development support projects (support for participation in domestic and international exhibitions and fairs, product promotion and marketing support) may vary in support amounts depending on the application status of companies. Last year, Seongdong-gu supported a total of 59.9 million KRW to 31 companies across the three categories.
Eligibility for application is SMEs located in Seongdong-gu, and since criteria vary by category, detailed information can be found on the Seongdong-gu Office website under notices and announcements. Applications and related documents should be submitted in person to the Regional Economy Division on the 13th floor of Seongdong-gu Office or via the responsible officer’s email.
The district will select participating companies based on internal evaluation criteria such as business readiness, selecting those with the highest scores first, and companies that have already received support will be given lower priority.
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, “This year, we will continue to provide professional and systematic export support and opportunities for domestic and international market development to local SMEs, including companies residing in knowledge industry centers, to help Seongdong-gu become an even better city for businesses.”
