Nutrition Management Support for Seniors and Disabled at Social Welfare Facility Cafeterias with Fewer than 50 People Starting This Second Half of the Year
Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Su-hee) announced that in November last year, it signed a private consignment business agreement with Gachon University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation to operate the Children's and Social Welfare Meal Management Support Centers.
The consignment period is three years from January 2024 to December 2026, and the consignment involves hygiene and nutrition management support for children's meal sites with fewer than 100 children without nutritionists and social welfare facility meal sites with fewer than 50 people.
Through this agreement, professional nutritionists at the Meal Management Support Center will register and manage 260 children's meal sites, regularly visiting them to provide guidance on purchasing and storing ingredients, hygiene management of facilities and equipment, meal distribution, and salt content control.
Additionally, educational programs such as sensory nutrition education for children and food poisoning prevention management for cooks will be operated, and healthy diet menus and standard recipes will be provided on the Gangdong Children's Hall and Gangdong-gu Childcare Comprehensive Support Center websites.
Specialized meal projects that attract attention will also be operated.
The "Ssuksuk Growth New Face Program" for new cooks is a program where professional nutritionists visit and provide one-on-one education to inexperienced cooks to improve their capabilities to the excellent hygiene management level of existing cooks' meal sites. The children's musical, themed on forming healthy eating habits and allowing children to enjoy participation through songs and dance, is also very popular, with about 1,000 children from 29 daycare centers participating last year alone.
In particular, this year, the Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center plans to conduct巡回 guidance to manage the hygiene environment of social welfare meal facilities used by many elderly and disabled people and to provide well-balanced nutritious meals.
Lee Su-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, "Through the operation of the Meal Management Support Center, we will take the lead in establishing a safe meal culture and helping children in their growth stages to have balanced nutrition," adding, "We will continue to strive to improve the health and quality of life of residents through integrated meal support encompassing children, the elderly, and the disabled."
