Guro-gu, Recruiting Participants for Guro-gu Citizen Academy in Collaboration with Seoul National University

Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) is recruiting 250 participants for the Guro-gu Citizen Academy in collaboration with Seoul National University.

The Guro-gu Citizen Academy helps residents develop themselves through diverse lectures from top domestic universities and provides opportunities for voluntary lifelong learning.

This academy will be held every Monday evening from 7 PM for 2 hours at the Guro-gu Community Center Auditorium from April 15 to June 24. Under the lecture theme "HAPPY GURO♡," it is thoughtfully organized with various topics such as happiness, love, and religion for each session.

The lectures start with Professor Park Min-seon (Seoul National University, College of Medicine) presenting "Can We Be Happy Without Medicine?" followed by Professor Shim Sang-yong (Seoul National University, College of Fine Arts) with "Amor Fati: Stories of Artists Who Loved Their Fate."

Participants who attend more than 70% of the lectures will receive a certificate of completion, and the final lecture and completion ceremony will be held at Seoul National University.

Applications open from 9 AM on March 4 and are open to Guro-gu residents or anyone working in the area. The course fee is completely free and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Applications can be submitted via the Guro Lifelong Learning Center website, by phone, or by visiting the Education Support Division of the district office or the Lifelong Learning Center (Gaebong-dong).

A Guro-gu official expressed hope that this will be an opportunity for residents to empathize with each other and expand into a world of new changes and infinite possibilities.
