Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok Inspects Resort in Romania
Terme "Best Effort to Finalize Site Contract by June 2025"

Therme Group, which is promoting a global well-being spa and resort in the 'Golden Harbor,' a complex tourism site in the hinterland of Incheon Port International Passenger Terminal, has clearly expressed its investment intention by submitting a business plan by the end of this year.

According to Incheon City on the 27th, Mayor Yoo Jung-bok, who is on a business trip to Europe, visited the Therme Resort in Romania on the 24th (local time) to check the facilities and operations and held an 'Investment Implementation Commitment Ceremony' with Therme Group.

At the event, Therme Group announced that Therme Group Korea plans to complete the site survey and submit a business plan by the end of this year with support from the group headquarters to establish a world-class well-being resort including a spa and water park in Golden Harbor, Songdo International City, Incheon. They also submitted an investment commitment letter, expressing strong determination for the project, stating they will do their best to conclude the land lease contract by June 2025.

Earlier, in November 2022, Incheon City signed a memorandum of understanding for mutual cooperation at an investment attraction briefing held in Frankfurt, Germany, attended by Mayor Yoo, Stelian Iacob, Vice Chairman of Therme Group, and Kim In-sook, General Manager of Therme Group Korea. Subsequently, in December last year, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority signed a sales contract to purchase two plots of land in Golden Harbor, Songdo, from the Incheon Port Authority to attract Therme.

Therme Group, headquartered in Austria, currently operates a total of four well-being spa resorts in Romania, Germany, and other countries through direct management and operational partnerships. In particular, the Romanian Therme Bucharest, which is directly managed, opened in 2016 and has established itself as Europe's largest well-being and relaxation space, attracting 1.5 million visitors annually.

The resorts operated by the group are characterized by indoor dome-shaped spa spaces that can operate 365 days a year, designed as nature-friendly leisure spaces linked with botanical gardens. Through advanced know-how unique to Therme Group, including water purification, air purification, and ozone treatment systems, the interior of the arboretum consists of more than 1,500 palm trees and 800,000 plants, providing urban nature healing. The glass exterior is also very unique, and it is expected that the urban landscape of Songdo International City will be enhanced when established in Golden Harbor.

At the commitment ceremony, Mayor Yoo said, "After personally touring the Romanian Therme Resort, I confirmed that Incheon, an international city, is the optimal location for such a facility," adding, "Since this is a project that Incheon City has devoted great effort to attract, I hope Therme Group will faithfully carry out the project." In response, Robert Hanea, Chairman of Therme Group, replied, "We will do our best to ensure the success of the project to create a special well-being system in Incheon."
