First Festival Selected as UNESCO World Heritage and Cultural Tourism Festival

Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk held the '2024 Goryeong Daegaya Festival Detailed Execution Plan Report Meeting' to ensure the successful hosting of this year's Goryeong Daegaya Festival.
On the 23rd, more than 70 people, including Goryeong-gun Governor Lee Nam-cheol, Tourism Council Chairman Kim Yong-hyun, heads of various departments, and eup/myeon chiefs, attended the meeting held at Daegaya Hall in the county office.
On this day, Governor Lee Nam-cheol and the attendees reviewed the achievements of past festivals and pledged to successfully host the 2024 Goryeong Daegaya Festival, scheduled to be held for three days starting from the 29th of next month, with the theme of the World Heritage Goryeong Jisandong Tumuli.
They also discussed the festival's organization, prioritizing traffic congestion and safety, as it is an event that attracts active participation from residents and large crowds.
The attendees emphasized that the event must prioritize safety for tourists, learning from failed cases in other local governments where heavy traffic and crowds caused not only traffic jams but also communication breakdowns.
Governor Lee said, "The Goryeong Daegaya Festival has proudly entered the ranks of Korea's cultural tourism festivals beyond being a regional representative festival," and added, "Please make every effort to prioritize safety in the operation for a successful event."
The '2024 Goryeong Daegaya Festival,' held for three days starting from the 29th of next month, will feature a variety of complex cultural events such as trekking using the Jisandong Tumuli, a special performance of 100 Gayageum players, a forest playground, photo zones, and night tours.
On the 23rd, the '2024 Goryeong Daegaya Festival Detailed Execution Plan Report Meeting' was held at Daegaya Hall in Goryeong County Office, attended by about 70 people including County Governor Lee Nam-chul and related officials.
