Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon District, attended the '22nd Yangcheon District Jeongwol Daeboreum Folk Festival' held at Anyangcheon 1st and 2nd Baseball Fields on the afternoon of the 24th to pray for regional development and community harmony.
The festival opened with a parade around 2 p.m. and was filled with rich traditional performances such as tightrope walking, Bukcheong Lion Dance, and Pansori, as well as neighborhood booths offering delicious delicacies and a folk game experience area, allowing visitors to experience our seasonal customs.
Especially at the event of burning the 12-meter tall Daljip, the tallest among Seoul's autonomous districts, about 2,000 wish papers collected from residents during the New Year's Day sunrise event at Yongwangsan and those written on-site were burned together to pray for happiness.
Following this, the excitement was heightened with Ganggangsuwollae and Jisinbalgi, and the festival concluded brilliantly with the largest fireworks display ever held at the Daeboreum folk festival.
Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon District, said, "Let us send away all misfortunes to the Daljip here today and create a year full of abundant blessings and good things for Yangcheon together."
