On the 22nd, Gijang-gun, Busan, conducted a joint wildfire suppression drill with the Gijang Fire Station at Gomnaejae Forest Rest Area in Cheolma-myeon to prepare for large-scale spring wildfires.

Busan Gijang-gun, Joint Wildfire Suppression Drill to Prepare for Large Spring Wildfires Gijang-gun conducted a joint wildfire suppression drill with related organizations to prepare for large-scale wildfires in spring.

The drill simulated a wildfire ignited at Gomnaejae Forest Rest Area in Cheolma-myeon spreading to the surrounding forest. About 80 personnel from Gijang County Office, Gijang Fire Station, and volunteer firefighters, along with five wildfire suppression vehicles, participated in the drill assuming an actual wildfire occurrence.

During the drill, the focus was on ▲strengthening wildfire spread prevention and evacuation training ▲establishing joint defense lines among related agencies according to the wildfire progression path ▲joint fire suppression and mutual role-sharing training ▲dissemination of initial response procedures for related parties (such as first discoverers) to respond to early wildfire stages.

After the drill, a joint wildfire prevention promotion and campaign were conducted targeting hikers and nearby residents to build consensus on wildfire prevention.

County Governor Jeong Jong-bok emphasized, “We will strengthen organic cooperation with related agencies during wildfire-prone periods and mobilize all administrative resources to prevent damage to valuable property and human lives from wildfires.” He also urged, “Since even a small spark can easily lead to a large wildfire, we ask all residents to strictly refrain from burning activities such as burning field edges and smoking near forested areas.”
