Support for Livestock Barn Ventilators to Prepare for Heatwaves
Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will focus on promoting 86 projects this year by investing 14.5 billion KRW in livestock and quarantine budgets, including the installation of ventilation facilities in livestock barns.
The major support projects for 2024 are ▲Support for strengthening Hanwoo competitiveness (1.3 billion KRW), ▲Support for strengthening dairy competitiveness (600 million KRW), ▲Support for strengthening pig competitiveness (240 million KRW), ▲Support for other livestock breeding (570 million KRW), ▲Support for expanding forage production infrastructure (5 billion KRW), ▲Livestock manure resource recycling (500 million KRW), ▲Promotion of eco-friendly beekeeping industry (350 million KRW), ▲Promotion of eco-friendly livestock farming (140 million KRW), ▲Support for prevention of livestock infectious diseases (5.5 billion KRW), and ▲Support project for ventilation facilities in livestock barns (300 million KRW).
In particular, the ‘Support Project for Ventilation Facilities in Livestock Barns’ is a new policy this year, securing a budget of 300 million KRW to prepare for the increasing heatwave damage to livestock farms every year due to abnormal summer weather, and will provide 1,500 ventilation fans to livestock farms.
Additionally, to promote the production and utilization of domestic forage and reduce production costs to strengthen the competitiveness of the livestock industry, the ‘Forage Manufacturing Cost Support Project (300 million KRW)’ reflecting farmers’ opinions will also be newly implemented.
Boseong-gun has set goals for this year to certify 77 eco-friendly livestock products, maintain 36 environmentally friendly green farms designated by Jeollanam-do, maintain 28 HACCP certifications, and maintain 114 clean livestock farm designations, actively striving to produce hygienic and safe food.
A Boseong-gun official said, “The core industry of the rural economy is livestock farming,” and added, “We will do our best to conduct prior inspections and discover support measures to minimize damage in the agricultural sector for sustainable livestock farming.”
