Enhancement of Mandatory Attachment System for Internet of Things
The Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office held a 'Small-scale Business Support Council Meeting' on the 22nd at the Nakdong River Office annex conference room.
The support council was formed to increase the attachment rate of IoT measuring devices for businesses required to install them and to assist businesses that have completed installation but are expected to face difficulties in proper operation due to lack of operational capacity.
The meeting was attended by local governments of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, the Green Environment Support Center of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, the Ulsan and Gyeongnam Environmental Technicians Association, and the Korea Environment Corporation.

The applicable targets are prevention facilities of 4th and 5th category businesses with a total annual air pollutant emission of less than 10 tons. The mandatory attachment deadlines are assigned progressively for new and existing businesses.
The meeting focused on ways to increase the attachment rate of new 5th category businesses that must mandatorily install devices by June, support measures to ensure proper operation of businesses that have completed installation, and system improvement plans.
Discussions included sharing information on IoT manufacturers and installers to assist businesses struggling due to lack of information, and plans to hold regional explanatory sessions.
Regional IoT explanatory sessions will provide system introductions and education focused on key cases for businesses that have installed measuring devices but lack operational knowledge. These sessions are planned to be held once a month from March to October after consultations with local governments.
Prior to the operation of the council, the Nakdong River Office formed and operated a working council last year to discuss various agendas such as ways to increase attachment rates for businesses whose mandatory attachment deadlines have arrived and to discover system improvements, and submitted recommendations to the Ministry of Environment.
Chief Jeongwon Choi stated, “We plan to proceed with recommendations to the Ministry of Environment and follow-up measures, and requested cooperation among related organizations to support small businesses that are easily overlooked within the system.”
