Songpa-gu Operates 'Songpa Run Music Studio' with Donated Instruments... 5,714 Users Last Year
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced on the 23rd that it received two grand pianos donated by the Samick Cultural Foundation.
The donation ceremony held on the 20th was attended by Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, Kim Jong-seop, Chairman of the Samick Cultural Foundation, and Kim Seong-il, Secretary General of the Samick Cultural Foundation.
The donated pianos include one small grand piano and one large grand piano, which will be delivered to Songpa Geulmaru Library and Songpa Community Center to be used for various cultural and artistic programs and performances. The donation to Songpa Geulmaru Library was already completed at the end of last year, and a classical concert was held to celebrate the library’s 10th anniversary, providing a meaningful occasion for local residents.
Established in 2013, the Samick Cultural Foundation (Chairman Kim Jong-seop) promotes culture-centered social contribution projects through support for concerts and other cultural arts, instrument donations, scholarships, and talent discovery. In 2021, it donated 338 instruments of 19 types, including one automatic playing piano, to the ‘Songparun Music Studio’ established near Songpa-gu Office.
This donation accounts for half of the total 799 instruments at the ‘Songparun Music Studio,’ which the district utilizes to offer various music programs to residents. In the past year alone, 5,714 residents have used the instruments for rental and lessons, receiving high praise.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “Thanks to the continuous interest and instrument support from the Samick Cultural Foundation, we are able to provide Songpa residents with more diverse opportunities to enjoy culture.” He added, “We will continue to develop cultural and artistic projects that anyone can easily enjoy in daily life to improve the quality of life for our residents.”
