On the 22nd (local time), he failed to pass the first qualifier of the PGA Tour Cognizant Classic held at Lost Lake Golf Club (par 70) in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He struggled with a 16-over-par 86 and did not make it into the top 25. To participate in the PGA Tour Cognizant Classic starting on the 29th, he must pass the first qualifier and then finish 4th or higher in the Monday qualifier next week.
Charlie's mother, Elin Nordegren, came to the golf course that day to watch her son's performance. Charlie lost 4 strokes in the first 5 holes, and at the 7th hole (par 4), he recorded a staggering 12 strokes, making it virtually impossible to pass the qualifier. His father, Woods, participated in the PGA Tour Nissan Open held at Riviera Country Club when he was 16 in 1992.
