Ruling and Opposition Parties Reach Sudden Unanimous Agreement on 'Prioritizing People's Livelihoods'
One day before the opening of the 284th Jung-gu Council extraordinary session, the ruling and opposition parties of the Jung-gu Council reached a sudden agreement to handle livelihood-related agenda items, including the supplementary budget.
On the 22nd at 4 p.m., the floor leaders of each party, Assemblyman So Jae-kwon (People Power Party) and Assemblyman Song Jae-cheon (Democratic Party), met in the district mayor's office and pledged to cooperate and communicate with a shared goal of enhancing the happiness and welfare of the residents.
Furthermore, the party leaders agreed to actively reflect the first supplementary budget, which includes projects closely related to residents' lives, through reciprocal consultations with the executive branch for the development of Jung-gu and revitalization of the local economy.
So far, Jung-gu has repeatedly requested the council to prioritize residents' livelihoods and conduct legislative activities for the residents, fearing that budget cuts would ultimately harm the residents. It is clear that if the budget closely related to residents' daily lives is not promptly restored, inconveniences will arise in real life.
Thanks to the consideration and harmony between the ruling and opposition parties on this day, the necessary budget was restored, enabling the district to focus more on stabilizing and enriching residents' daily lives while revitalizing the local economy.
Although two months of 2024 have already passed, the district plans to establish and execute flawless plans to ensure that all projects prepared for 2024 proceed without any setbacks.
District Mayor Kim Gil-seong expressed gratitude, saying, “I appreciate the bold decision made by both parties,” and added, “We will do our utmost to promote projects so that residents can feel the vitality of Jung-gu, with the smooth passage of the supplementary budget and other pending issues at the extraordinary session.”
