Cheongnyangni Station Metropolitan Transfer Center Project Progressing Smoothly

Existing Cheongnyangni Station lines to be connected for transfer with GTX lines

Cheongnyangni Station Metropolitan Transfer Center Project Progressing Smoothly

Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) recently addressed residents' concerns about the cancellation of the metropolitan transfer center, stating on the 23rd that "the Cheongnyangni Station metropolitan transfer center is progressing without any issues."

With the GTX-C line having started construction in January this year and the GTX-B line scheduled to begin construction in the first half of this year, Cheongnyangni Station is expected to become a key metropolitan transfer center in the eastern part of Seoul.

The GTX-B and C lines, scheduled for completion in 2030 and 2029 respectively, are designed to allow horizontal transfers and will be linked with the bus transfer station at the front of Cheongnyangni Station.

▲ On Subway Line 1, transfers will be possible via an underground connecting passage, and ▲ for ground rail lines passing through Cheongnyangni Station such as KTX, Gyeongui-Jungang Line, and Gyeongchun Line, transfers will be facilitated from the ground level via elevators (16 planned).

However, the plan to move the bus transfer center at the front of Cheongnyangni Station underground is expected to be delayed.

According to the results of Seoul City's "Feasibility Study and Basic Plan Establishment for GTX Cheongnyangni Station Transfer Center" conducted in December last year, the underground relocation of the bus transfer center was evaluated as having low cost-benefit (B/C) value, indicating poor project viability.

The district office, believing that the underground development of the bus transfer center at the front of Cheongnyangni Station will serve as a driving force for the complex development of Cheongnyangni Station, plans to ▲ secure the development site (underground space), ▲ continuously promote the underground bus transfer center project in connection with the development plan and urban planning around Cheongnyangni Station, and ▲ submit improvement proposals such as changing the current B/C calculation method, which underestimates the benefits of reduced transfer times, to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Seoul City.

Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, "We will closely cooperate with Seoul City and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to develop the Cheongnyangni Station area into a hub for transportation, commerce, culture, and administration."
