Visited Traditional Markets Two Days in a Row Following Ulsan Sinjeong Market Visit the Previous Day
President Yoon Suk-yeol stated on the 22nd, "If the economies of Masan and Changwon revive, more customers will visit the markets," adding, "I will work hard for regional development."
On the same day, after presiding over a public discussion on livelihood issues at the Gyeongnam Provincial Office in Changwon, Gyeongnam, President Yoon visited Masan Fish Market and responded to merchants' requests to "bring vitality to traditional markets."
This visit marked his first to a traditional market in the Gyeongnam region in six months since visiting Geoje Gohyeon Market last August. It was also his third visit to Masan Fish Market, following visits during the presidential primary in September 2021 and as president-elect in April 2022.
President Yoon shook hands individually with citizens and merchants at the market. When a merchant at a seafood store offered him gochu horaegi (small squid), one of Gyeongnam's representative dishes, President Yoon tasted it and said, "It's delicious. Let's buy some to eat at lunch," according to Kim Soo-kyung, spokesperson for the Presidential Office.
He then stopped by a store run by an elderly person, asking about their health with questions like, "Are your knees uncomfortable?" and "Which hospital do you visit when you are sick?"
President Yoon continued to visit a butcher shop, a fish store, and a jokbal (pig's trotters) shop, greeting citizens and taking commemorative photos. He left the market after about 40 minutes without giving a separate speech.
