Sacheon-si, Threat to Citizen Safety ... Operation of Wild Dog Specialized Capture Team

This Year's Wild Dog Capture Target: 60 Animals

Sacheon City in Gyeongnam Province is launching a focused capture operation targeting wild feral dogs that threaten the safety of its citizens.

On the 22nd, the city signed a business agreement with a professional capture team at the Agricultural Technology Center's small conference room and plans to carry out the capture of wild feral dogs that threaten public safety and damage crops. The capture target for wild feral dogs this year is 60 animals.

The professional wild feral dog capture team operates by responding to resident reports, confirming the presence of feral dogs at the reported sites, and safely capturing them using traps and nets before handing them over to the Sacheon City abandoned animal shelter.

Meanwhile, wild feral dogs are highly aggressive and wary, frequently moving around, making them difficult to capture.

In particular, since they are not designated as harmful animals under the Animal Protection Act, they can only be captured using nets or traps, which presents challenges.

A city official stated, “Recently, wild feral dogs have frequently appeared in local hills and residential areas, threatening citizens. Through the operation of the professional capture team, we plan to ensure public safety and do our best to prevent damage caused by wild feral dogs.”
