Police Suspect Extreme Choice
A professor at a national university in Jeonbuk was found dead while under investigation by the prosecution on charges of paper fabrication, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
On the 21st, the Buan Police Station in Jeonbuk announced that Professor A was found dead near a beach in Byeonsan-myeon, Buan-gun, at around 6:20 p.m. Professor A was accused of fabricating research papers and obstructing the duties of the review committee during the evaluation process for contract renewal. It was reported that he had recently been sent to the prosecution for investigation and was released through a detention review. Professor A is known to have arbitrarily manipulated measured values and error ranges in his papers to obtain better scores and listed them as research achievements.
At around 5:40 p.m. that day, police began a search following a report from the family that they could not contact him and found Professor A dead inside his car. The police believe that Professor A took his own life and are investigating the exact cause of death.
