Hyundai Motor Changes New Headquarters Design from 105 to 55 Floors... Divides Lower Floors into 6 Separate Buildings Hyundai Motor Company New Headquarters Global Business Center (GBC) Bird's-eye View /

Hyundai Motor Group has reportedly proposed to Seoul City to divide the Global Business Center (GBC) it plans to build in Gangnam into multiple buildings with fewer floors than the originally planned 105 floors.

According to Seoul City and Hyundai Motor Group on the 21st, Hyundai Motor Group submitted a proposal to change the GBC development plan, currently under construction in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, to Seoul City on the 7th.

The proposal included plans to divide the GBC into a total of six buildings, including two 55-floor towers. Initially, Hyundai Motor Group planned to build one supertall building with 105 floors (height 569m), the tallest in Korea, along with four low-rise buildings.

The proposal also stated that the two 55-floor towers, which will be used as Hyundai Motor Group’s integrated headquarters, will each be constructed at approximately 242 meters in height, and the four low-rise buildings will house large event and conference spaces, as well as cultural and convenience facilities.

Hyundai Motor Group is known to have revised the design plan by comprehensively considering the practicality and safety of the GBC buildings, changes in internal and external management environments, and the group’s future strategy.

A Hyundai Motor Group official said, "We have submitted a proposal to change the GBC development plan and will closely consult with Seoul City regarding permits and approvals related to the changes."

In this regard, Seoul City expressed its intention to review the proposal carefully. A city official said, "Since there are differences from the existing design plan, we will examine it thoroughly and negotiate. It is expected to take quite some time to review the revised design plan."
