Candidate Kim Taeseong Reveals Policy Pledges in Local Education Sector

From Infants to University Graduates... Everyone Should Enjoy the 'Right to Happiness'

Kim Tae-seong, a preliminary candidate for the Yeongam·Muan·Sinan district of the Democratic Party of Korea, disclosed his education policy pledges on the 21st after in-depth discussions on local education policies with education officials at his election office.

According to election office officials, candidate Kim Tae-seong stated, “I have established practical education policy pledges tailored by region, age group, and project, and I will do my best to fulfill these pledges by distinguishing between short-term and mid-to-long-term plans in the future.”

First, as part of the early childhood support projects, there will be an expansion of national and public daycare centers and an increase in childbirth support incentives. For elementary school student support projects, efforts will be made to enhance basic academic skills support, establish village care centers and safe routes to and from school, and expand educational safety facilities such as installing intelligent CCTV.

Regarding middle school-related projects, specialized academy districts comparable to those in the metropolitan area will be attracted not only to the Samhyang, Oryong, and Hoeryong areas of Namak but also to appropriate locations in Yeongam and Sinan. Online education and basic academic support projects will also be implemented for students marginalized in learning. Additionally, pledges include support for educational activity expenses for low-income multicultural children, expansion of extracurricular youth educational activities, and expansion of entrance exam-linked career and job education programs.

For higher education policies, scholarship dormitory facilities comparable to Namdo Hak-suk (located in Dongjak and Eunpyeong districts, Seoul) or Jeonnam Hak-suk (located in Hwasun, Jeonnam) will be constructed in the region to maximize the housing and learning rights of university students in the Honam area. Furthermore, an employment academy will be operated to conduct corporate experience projects, while also focusing on supporting the self-sufficiency of low-income youth.

Candidate Kim also added pledges to expand employment education tailored for job seekers and the unemployed after university graduation, and to enable lifelong education support projects linked with nearby universities.

Kim Tae-seong said, “Education issues are complexly linked with low birth rates, childcare problems, housing, and basic living stability. It is absolutely necessary to increase the local population and attract quality educational institutions. Not only the province and county but also city and provincial education offices and various educational institutions will make collaborative efforts to ensure the educational living area of the region.”
