Fall Incident at Japanese Tourist Attraction
Chest Injured but No Life-Threatening Condition

A bizarre incident occurred where a man fell from a cliffside observatory after being pushed as a 'prank' by a company colleague while enjoying the view. Fortunately, the man’s life is not in danger. On the 20th (local time), Japanese regional media 'Fuji News Network' (FNN) reported on the fall incident that took place at the Amanohashidate Observatory in Miyazu City, Kyoto.

The victim, a man in his 50s identified as Mr. A, was standing at the edge of the observatory on the day of the incident, bending over to admire the scenery. This observatory is a famous tourist spot because when you bend over and put your head between your legs to look, the sea and sky appear inverted, and the rows of pine trees look like a dragon ascending to the heavens. Mr. A was viewing the landscape in this pose.

At that moment, his companion and coworker, Mr. B, suddenly ran up and pushed Mr. A’s body. Mr. A lost his balance instantly and tumbled down about 15 meters below the observatory. As a result, Mr. A sustained injuries to his chest and some other parts of his body, but fortunately, his life is not at risk.

After the incident, Mr. B reportedly told the police that he pushed Mr. A as a prank. Currently, the Japanese police are investigating the specific circumstances of the incident with Mr. B and others involved.

Amanohashidate is considered one of Japan’s three most scenic views. This is the first time a fall accident has occurred at this observatory. Since the observatory is installed on a cliff, railings have been set up around it, and signs instructing visitors to 'always hold the railing while viewing' are reportedly posted.
