The Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association announced on the 21st that it will hold a "Serious Accident Punishment Act Briefing for Pharmaceutical and Bio Companies" on the 29th at the auditorium on the 4th floor of the Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association building in Seocho-gu, Seoul. This briefing is organized to explore corporate-level response measures in light of the expanded application of the Serious Accident Punishment Act, targeting legal, HR, manufacturing, and factory management personnel of pharmaceutical and bio companies.

The Serious Accident Punishment Act is a law that imposes strict penalties on business owners or management responsible for safety negligence when a serious accident occurs at a workplace. If it is found that the business owner or management neglected safety obligations, they may face imprisonment for more than one year or a fine of up to 1 billion KRW. Since the 27th of last month, the scope of application has been fully expanded to companies with 5 to 49 employees.
The briefing will focus on response measures by type of serious accident, related key issues, and recent response trends and cases of pharmaceutical and bio companies. It will begin with a lecture on "Key Contents of the Serious Accident Punishment Act" by Yang Hye-seong, a lawyer at the Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association, followed by ▲No Min-ho, a lawyer at Bae, Kim & Lee LLC, discussing issues related to the Serious Accident Punishment Act in the pharmaceutical and bio industry ▲Jo Seo-kyung, a lawyer at Kim & Chang law firm, presenting cases of pharmaceutical and bio companies' responses to the Serious Accident Punishment Act.
