The Democratic Party, the Progressive Party, the New Progressive Alliance, and the Coalition Political Citizens' Meeting, representing civil society organizations, have decided to establish a provisional name for the opposition unified proportional representation party called the "Democratic Reform Progressive Alliance" on the 3rd of next month. Regarding constituencies, Ulsan Buk-gu has decided to unify under the Progressive Party candidate, and for other areas except some regions, a unification method through public opinion polls was adopted.

On the 21st, Park Hong-geun, head of the Democratic Party's Democratic Alliance Promotion Team, Yoon Hee-sook, standing election countermeasures committee chair of the Progressive Party, and Yong Hye-in, standing election countermeasures committee chair of the New Progressive Alliance, held the "Democratic Reform Progressive Election Alliance Agreement Signing Ceremony."

While the Green Justice Party did not participate, the remaining opposition parties involved disclosed rough plans for proportional seats and constituency candidate unification.

According to the disclosed agreement, 30 proportional representation candidates will be prepared, with the Progressive Party and the New Progressive Alliance each recommending 3 candidates. Four candidates representing civil society organizations will be nominated as national candidates and placed in the top ranks of the proportional representation list. The remaining 20 candidates will be recommended by the Democratic Party.

Regarding constituencies, the opposition candidates will be unified through a primary election based on public opinion polls, except for the Honam and Daegu-Gyeongbuk regions. However, in the case of the Ulsan Buk-gu electoral district, it was decided to unify under the Progressive Party candidate.

Park, the promotion team leader, stated, "There remains the issue of how to select candidates related to the joint recommendation of proportional alliance candidates, but this issue has been amicably agreed upon by the two parties and civil society." He added, "Regarding constituency alliances, the Green Justice Party is included. This issue has also been settled with major principles and positions."

Candidate verification and other procedures will undergo internal verification by each recommending unit as well as screening and nomination management procedures prepared by the Democratic Reform Progressive Alliance.
