Gochang-gun 'Myeongchang Invitation Pansori Academy' Student Recruitment

Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do announced on the 21st that it is recruiting students for this year's Myungchang Invitation Pansori Academy.

The Myungchang Invitation Pansori Academy, organized by the Dongri Cultural Foundation, will be held every Tuesday at 7 PM from next month on the 5th until November at the Sin Jae-hyo Pansori Park.

The program includes the five pansori repertoires (Simcheongga, Chunhyangga, Heungboga, Sugungga, Jeokbyeokga), folk songs, and a special lecture on Gobeop, with no tuition fee.

The Pansori Academy schedule is as follows: ▲1st session = September 5 to April 2 (Gangsanje Simcheongga, Master Choi Dong-hyun, Myungchang Jeong Hoe-seok) ▲2nd session = April 9 to May 7 (Kim Se-jong style Chunhyangga, Master Kim Seok-bae, Myungchang Yoo Young-ae) ▲3rd session = May 21 to June 18 (Misan style Sugungga, Master Seong Gi-ryeon, Myungchang Wang Gi-seok) ▲4th session = June 25 to July 23 (Namdo folk songs, Master Kim Ik-du, Myungchang Park Yang-deok) ▲5th session = July 30 to August 27 (Park Rok-ju style Heungboga, Master Jeong Chun-kwon, Myungchang Kim Hyang-sun) ▲6th session = September 3 to October 8 (Park Bong-sul style Jeokbyeokga, Master Kim Ki-hyung, Myungchang Kim Il-gu) ▲7th session = October 22 to November 19 (Gobeop special lecture, Myungo Jo Yong-an).

The county is considering providing accommodation and practice rooms for a certain period to become a training sanctuary for pansori majors nationwide.

A county official said, “We hope to widely promote Gochang as the ‘Pansori Sanctuary Gochang, the birthplace of K-culture and K-POP’ by holding pansori experience performances and pansori busking for visitors to Gochang.”
