Contest Open Until March 21, Startups and Companies Creating Direct Revenue and Jobs in Tourism Eligible
Free Office Space, Meeting Rooms, and Lecture Rooms Provided at Busan Tourism Enterprise Support Center, Program Support Available
Busan City, together with Busan Tourism Organization (President Lee Jeong-sil), will hold the '2024 Busan Tourism Startup Contest' until March 21.
This contest is conducted to strengthen the competitiveness of Busan's tourism industry by discovering creative tourism businesses and expanding startups in the tourism sector.
Applicants must be business operators (or prospective entrepreneurs) based in Busan (or planning to register) who can directly generate revenue and create jobs related to tourism. Depending on eligibility, applicants can apply in one of four categories: ▲Preliminary ▲Early ▲Growth ▲Regional Win-Win Tourism Startups.
Selected companies through the contest will be able to use office space, meeting rooms, and lecture rooms free of charge at the Busan Tourism Enterprise Support Center, and receive various programs to support the startup and growth of tourism startups.
Programs such as educational consulting, promotional marketing and market development, networking, and investment attraction will be provided.
Additionally, through category-specific evaluations, 15 companies will be selected and provided with differentiated commercialization funds ranging from 10 million to 30 million KRW per company.
Especially this year, support will be provided so that selected companies can collaborate on various projects with startup support organizations beyond the tourism industry sector.
To link the tourism industry with other heterogeneous industries (manufacturing, distribution, technology, etc.), plans include collaboration with the Busan Center for Creative Economy and Innovation on the 'Workation Project' and co-hosting networking events such as 'Worknect' with the Bank권 Youth Startup Foundation (d.camp), fostering diverse cooperation with startup support organizations.
Also, in response to the endemic phase, to actively attract foreign tourists to the Busan area, support will be provided for the development of Busan-specialized products by tourism startups and promotional marketing.
Park Geun-rok, Director of the Tourism MICE Bureau of Busan City, stated, “We will strive to add Busan’s unique tourism companies and product content to existing tourism products by expanding cooperation with various heterogeneous industries in line with changes in the global market.”
