Park Seongjae, New Minister of Justice, Says "Prosecutors Must Regain Their Sense of Duty Themselves"

Park Seong-jae, the newly appointed Minister of Justice, stated on the 20th, "Not all criticisms directed at the prosecution are necessarily correct, but now is the time for prosecutors themselves to straighten their attitudes and regain their sense of mission."

At the inauguration ceremony held at the Government Complex Gwacheon on the same day, Minister Park said, "The external view on the political actions of some prosecutors recently has been very harsh."

Minister Park emphasized, "There is no need to look far; it is necessary to reread the prosecutor's oath and reflect on the promises made when taking office as a prosecutor," adding, "I hope prosecutors engrave the heavy mission entrusted to them in their hearts and renew their commitment to serve the people and the nation with all their might."

Minister Park stated, "As the responsibility for cases between the prosecution and the police becomes unclear, concerns about passing the buck and inadequate investigations are growing," and added, "It is necessary to reexamine work processes for the prompt investigation and trial of civil cases."

Minister Park said, "The 22nd National Assembly election is just around the corner," and urged, "Please prepare thoroughly so that this election can be conducted more fairly and cleanly than ever before."
