Regarding Jomin's Medical License, "Respecting Daughter's Decision"
"When my daughter (Jo Min) said she would return her medical license, I felt choked up and felt sorry as a father."
Former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, who is preparing to launch a new proportional representation party (tentatively named Jo Guk New Party), expressed regret regarding his daughter Jo Min giving up her medical license. He also said, "If I could go back in time, I would not have taken the position of Minister of Justice."

On the 19th, Cho appeared on MBC Radio's 'Kwon Soon-pyo's News High Kick.' When asked, "If you could go back in time and were offered the ministerial position, knowing this situation, would you still take it?" he replied, "History cannot be changed, and there are no hypotheticals in history, but if someone knew this outcome, who, especially as the head of a family, would take it?" He added, "It cannot be undone, but that is how I feel."
Cho also shared his feelings when his daughter Jo Min said she would return her medical license. He said, "Her lawyers said that they should continue the lawsuit to the end regarding her medical qualification, and the Busan National University Medical School issued a statement saying that the controversial certificate of commendation did not affect her admission." He explained, "The lawyers wanted to continue the lawsuit to the end, but after long consideration, my daughter said this."
Cho said, "'If I make my father go through the first trial, second trial, and third trial, it will never end, and during that time, I won't be able to do anything new. Not only my father's issue but also I myself will be unable to do anything. Although it is a waste of a long time, I want to settle it quickly and take a new path,' she said." He added, "Hearing that, my throat tightened and I felt heartache."
He continued, "I respected my daughter's decision," and said, "She is not someone who just does what she is told; she thinks, plans, prepares, and acts on her own, so I trust and leave it to her." He added, "(My daughter) is currently actively engaged in YouTube activities and is preparing in various ways for a new job and a new future."
Earlier, Jo's medical license was canceled as of July 12 last year. After the conviction of Jo's mother, former Dongyang University professor Jung Kyung-shim, for her daughter's admission fraud, Busan National University and Korea University canceled Jo's admission in April last year. Jo filed a lawsuit against this but lost in the first trial. Subsequently, Jo finally gave up the appeal, confirming the cancellation of her admission to Busan National University Medical School, and the Ministry of Health and Welfare completed the procedure to revoke her medical license.
Meanwhile, regarding criticism that he declared politics "when it is time to reflect and be humble" immediately after the second trial verdict was announced, Cho said, "I naturally understand the feelings of those who say that," but emphasized, "I have apologized to the public about 15 times inside and outside the courtroom. I will of course accept the trial results and take legal and moral responsibility for them."
Regarding the goal of the new party, he said, "To win 10 seats and become the third-largest party in the National Assembly." However, concerning his proportional representation ranking, he was cautious, saying, "I cannot decide that. Once the party is organized, it will be decided through the nomination management committee."
