National Assembly to Adopt Hearing Report Today
President Yoon Suk-yeol approved the appointment of Park Seong-jae as the new Minister of Justice on the 20th.
The Presidential Office spokesperson announced in a press release that President Yoon had approved the appointment of Minister Park.
The National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee held a meeting at 11 a.m. that day and adopted the personnel hearing report for Minister Park.
The ruling and opposition parties had a heated debate during the personnel hearing for candidate Park held on the 15th, discussing the political neutrality of the Ministry of Justice and Minister Park's morality and qualifications.

The opposition party pointed out allegations of Park's apartment gift tax evasion and receipt of high legal fees through preferential treatment of former officials. On the other hand, the ruling party argued that Park's legal fees were not excessive.
However, both parties did not show significant disagreement regarding candidate Park's suitability and agreed to adopt the hearing report without objections.
Candidate Park, originally from Cheongdo, Gyeongbuk, graduated from Korea University with a degree in law and passed the 27th Judicial Examination. As a member of the 17th Judicial Research and Training Institute, Park served in key positions such as head of the Inspection Division 2 at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, head of the Financial and Tax Investigation Division 1 at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, and director of the Inspection Department at the Ministry of Justice, before serving as chief prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office and the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office.
