MoEF Holds Youth Policy Meeting for Job Creation and Regional University Innovation

On the 20th, Kim Dong-il, Director of the Budget Office at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, visited Busan as part of the second schedule of the 'Field DIVE' program to check the support status for young job seekers who have given up looking for jobs at the Busan Youth Center and the glocal and advanced field education sites at Pusan National University. The Field DIVE means visiting the site directly (Direct), collecting policy ideas (Idea), enhancing policy value (Value), and having government ministries, local governments, and experts discuss together (Expert).

According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, on this day, Director Kim discussed various improvement measures to strengthen youth job support at a meeting attended by officials from Busan City, universities, and youth. In particular, through the University Job Plus Center, which is being fully implemented this year with customized employment services for enrolled students, it was agreed that a cooperative system among local governments, the government, and schools should be established to minimize blind spots so that high school students and local youth are not excluded, and efforts to discover young people who have given up job seeking or taken a break should be strengthened.

On this day, Director Kim stated, "The Regional Innovation-centered University Support (RISE), which is being piloted from this year, and the Pusan National University Glocal University project need to be linked not only to strengthening the employment capabilities of local youth but also to regional industry and job creation." He also took time to directly listen to the difficulties faced by young people. One young person requested that the semiconductor and secondary battery specialized university* be expanded to other advanced fields preferred by youth. There was also a suggestion to devise various incentive measures, such as improving working conditions, so that young people can find employment and maintain long-term careers in small and medium-sized enterprises.
