Gyeonggi Provincial Council Dokdo Love and National Territory Love Association's Statement Urging the Abolition of "Takeshima Day"

The Dokdo Love and Homeland Love Association of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council issued a statement urging the abolition of 'Takeshima Day.'

On the 20th, the Dokdo Love and Homeland Love Association of the Provincial Council held a press conference in front of the 'Statue of Peace' at the Provincial Council and announced a statement calling for the abolition of Japan's 'Takeshima Day,' criticizing, "Although Dokdo is clearly the inherent territory of the Republic of Korea, Japan held diplomatic speeches and the Takeshima Day event."

The Dokdo Love and Homeland Love Association of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council held a press conference on the 20th, urging the abolition of Japan's Takeshima Day.

They continued, "Japan continues its unjust claim of sovereignty over Dokdo, but the current government is taking a passive stance toward Japan's unjust actions," adding, "To protect the lives and safety of Gyeonggi residents, we urge the abolition of Japan's Takeshima Day and will raise our voices until an apology for historical distortion is made."

Through the statement, they demanded ▲ Japan immediately abolish the Shimane Prefecture's 'Takeshima Day' event and apologize ▲ completely delete the description of Dokdo in defense white papers and various textbooks and apologize for it ▲ sincerely reflect on and atone for the Japanese colonial invasion for the development of Korea-Japan relations.

The press conference was attended by Chairman Assemblyman Kim Yong-seong, as well as Assemblymen Guk Jung-beom, Kim Dong-gyu, Kim Seong-su, Kim Ok-sun, Kim Jong-bae, Kim Cheol-jin, Kim Tae-hee, Yoo Jong-sang, Lee Jae-young, Lee Chae-myeong, Jang Yoon-jeong, Jeong Yoon-gyeong, Choi Hyo-suk, and Hwang Se-ju. The statement was announced by Assemblymen Lee Byung-sook and Oh Ji-hoon, moderated by Secretary-General Assemblyman Im Chang-hwi.
